Flowers have a timeless quality about them. They seem to always have a place, no matter what time of year, what occasion. In early spring we look forward to seeing those first blossoms appear, through summer and fall we marvel at all the shapes and colors in gardens around us, and before winter sets in we scramble to get those new bulbs in the ground for next spring.

It is then no great surprise that floral motifs are so often used to create that perfect, elegant card needed for any occasion. With the right mix of colors, intensity, and composition, we can evoke a certain feeling or emotion.

In this article we bring to you a few examples of some easy ways to create elegant cards with floral stamps.

This article describes different techniques for creating elegant cards with floral motifs.

Techniques:

The Poppies are stamped on white watercolor paper. The image is cropped to a square shape, the corners rounded with a corner punch and bordered with a gold krylon pen.
The poppies are painted with yellow ochre, alizarin crimson and sap green.
The leaves are painted with cadmium yellow light and sap green. The background is painted with a combination of  yellow ochre and rose madder. It is then splattered with red and brown paint.
The background cardstock is beige stamped with an antique paper background in gold ink. The entire card is trimmed with a gold krylon border.
